The Ola electric scooter is faster and more powerful than many other electric scooters and mopeds designed for urban use. New internal testing shows it can reach 100 km/h (62 mph) and go 150 km (93 miles) on a single charge.

Ola Electric, an Indian electric motorcycle startup, has big aspirations for the future in terms of transforming electric two-wheelers not just in India but around the world. Bhavish Aggarwal, the founder and group CEO of Ola Electric, has some bold goals for the firm and the EV sector as a whole. Last year, the company purchased the assets of Etergo, a Dutch startup, and its AppScooter prototype.

Before introducing the much-anticipated scooter, Aggarwal took to Twitter and released a video of himself riding the bike around Bangalore. This suggests that the scooter is ready for production and will arrive much sooner than anticipated.

Several Indian automotive journals predict that the Ola scooter will be released in the second half of July. The Ola Electric scooter, which has yet to be given an official model name, will be built at Ola’s FutureFactory, which the company claims would be the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturing plant.

The Ola FutureFactory will be located in the Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu and will offer roughly 10,000 jobs in the area, bringing a significant boost to India’s economy.

As previously stated, Ola has grand ambitions for this plant, with plans to make it the world’s largest scooter production facility, with an annual capacity of two million motorcycles.

To make matters even better, the plant is intended to use sustainable energy methods, lowering its overall carbon footprint to accommodate increased production capacity.
“The Ola scooter is a leap-frog product, packed with multiple industry-leading breakthroughs including the engine, the battery, the vehicle computer, and several more advanced capabilities through unique software – all designed by Ola,” the firm said in a statement.

Apart from the revolutionary technology built into the Ola scooter, the business also wants to expand the Ola HyperCharger network, including over 100,000 fast-charging stations spread across 400 cities in India.

All of this sounds like great news in a country where two-wheelers are the most common mode of transportation and where gas-powered vehicles account for the vast majority of those motorbikes.

We don’t yet know how much Ola’s electric scooter will cost at retail. So far, we’ve just heard that “it will be priced aggressively in order to make it broadly available.”

We first saw the new Ola electric scooter earlier this year when we spotted testing in camo wrap. Since then, we’ve had a more detailed look at the bike, which shows off the sleek design of the scooter.

Ola electric scooter has higher speed and power specifications than many other electric scooters and mopeds developed primarily for urban use. It has a 100 km/h (62 mph) top speed and a max distance of 150 km (93 miles) on a single charge, as per new internal testing.

The scooter is based on the Etergo AppScooter, which was designed in the Netherlands. Ola purchased it after the original creators ran into financial difficulties.

While we await more information on the new scooter, we can see it in action in the video below.
