Marvel’s Spider Man Miles Morales, the spinoff to one of the most popular games ever released, launched on Windows PCs today. It did so just three months after the original game did, too.

The hit game has been developed by Insomniac Games, the studio behind games such as Ratchet & Clank, PlayStation, and Marvel’s Spider-Man. The port is being done under the aegis of Nixxes Software, which was acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment last year. The studio specializes in ports and supporting other studios’ productions in various ways.

With this PC port, all the content of the original title has been included. In addition to that, developer Insomniac Games has added new features and enhancements, including support for Nvidia’s DLSS 2 and DLSS 3, AMD’s FSR 2.1, as well as ray-traced shadows and reflections. Same as with the previous game, Insomniac Games has also provided strong multi-monitor support.

When it comes to input options, the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller will feature a USB-C connection so you can plug in and play with adaptive triggers within the game. You can also use a keyboard and mouse with the game, but you’ll gain access to haptics that were specifically designed for the controller.

The Steam Input system allows you to create your own solutions and mappings. In a post on the PlayStation Blog, developers discuss defining mouse- and keyboard inputs for a game originally designed for controllers.

The first Spider-Man game from Insomniac, which I also enjoyed quite a bit, pales in comparison with Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The game’s shorter runtime and more focused story improved some aspects of its predecessor, and it felt like a tighter experience overall. Since Peter Parker’s Spider-Man has been portrayed so many times, seeing someone else wear the suit was refreshing.

According to Insomniac, it is working on a sequel to Spider-Man with the same scope as the original. From the newly released game’s marketing materials, it appears that you will play as both Miles Morales and Peter Parker. Another Marvel property is also being developed by Insomniac: Wolverine.

It’s too early to tell if either will come to PC, but it seems likely given Sony’s recent strategy-albeit sometime after the PlayStation versions do.

Until then, Spider Man Miles Morales is available for $49.99 on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
